1884年（明治17年）に、時の外務卿・井上馨の発案により英国に範をとったジェントルマンズ・クラブとして設立された東京倶楽部。

国際親善の増進を目的とした文化活動の助成事業として、長年続けてきたジャパンボウル世界大会をお選びいただき、今年の大会にて、優勝者の日本への招聘が可能となりました。助成金の授与式では、多方面で国際的な活動を行なっている方々とも交流させていただきました。

今年は、米国、カナダ、ブラジル、ポーランド、デンマーク、ブルガリア、カンボジア、ベルギー、トルコ等で日本語を学習している若者が、大会に参加する予定です。知日派の育成にもつながる大会になるよう、頑張ります。

The Tokyo Club was established in 1884 (Meiji 17) as a gentlemen’s club modeled after those in the United Kingdom, based on a proposal by Kaoru Inoue, then Minister for Foreign Affairs.

We are honored that the Tokyo Club has selected the Global Japan Bowl -a cultural initiative we have long supported to promote international goodwill—as the recipient of its grant, making it possible to invite the winner to Japan for this year’s competition.

At the grant award ceremony, I had the opportunity to interact with people who are actively engaged in international activities across a wide range of fields.

This year, young people studying Japanese in countries such as the United States, Canada, Brazil, Poland, Denmark, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Belgium, and Turkey are scheduled to participate in the competition.

We will do our best to ensure that this competition contributes to fostering a new generation of Japan enthusiasts.
