【アメリカを訪問しました！Part1】

20代のほとんどを過ごしたワシントンDC。コロナ禍で遠のいていましたが、この冬、久しぶりに訪問することができました。

アメリカは一言で言うと「自由」で「多様」な国。一歩外に出るだけで、さまざまな言語が飛び交う異文化に触れることができます。

1人1人が何を望み、何をするかは自由。人種や宗教や置かれた環境を越えて、お互いの存在を認め合い、尊重し、協力して社会を築いてきたことが、アメリカという国を強くしているのだと思います。

自分が本当にしたいことは、自分で決め、動くことでしか実現できませんが、日本では何となく、個が周りに流されたり、組織に埋もれたりしてしまっている気がしてなりません。肌の色は同じでも、1人1人に個性や思いや能力の違いがあり、それぞれが最大限の力を発揮する社会の器があれば、もっと柔軟で強固な国になると考えています。

アメリカ滞在中に、現地の議員や教育関係者の方々と交流する機会がありました。もちろんアメリカにも課題はありますが、日本と違うのは、肩書や立場を越えて各々がフラットに意見し、議論できることだと思いました。(続く)

I spent most of my twenties in Washington, D.C. I was able to visit for the first time in a long while this winter after the Corona disaster.

In a word, the U.S. is a "free" and "diverse" country. Just by stepping outside, you can experience different cultures with many different languages.

I believe that the fact that they have built a society in which they recognize and respect each other's existence and cooperate with each other, regardless of race, religion, or environment, is what makes the U.S. a strong country.

I feel that in Japan, individuals are somehow swept away by their surroundings or buried by their organizations. I believe that if there is a social vessel that allows each individual to demonstrate their full potential, we can create the foundation for a more flexible and robust society.

During my stay in the U.S., I had the opportunity to interact with local legislators and educators. Of course, there are issues in the U.S. as there are in Japan, but I thought it was important for each person to express and discuss their opinions in a flat manner no matter what titles and positions they have.
