先週、日米協会主催の安倍元総理、エマニュエル駐日米国大使歓迎会に参加させていただきました。

これからの日米関係にとって今後3年間がとても重要であること、日本の立ち振る舞いは、インド太平洋地域をはじめとする国際情勢に大きな影響をもたらすこと、これまではcost(経費）とefficiency（効率性）が重要視されてきたが、これからの時代は、stability(安定）と sustainability（持続性）が重要となるという見解など、学びの多い時間でした。

写真は日米協会インターンの大学生たちと一緒に撮っていただいたものです。日米関係の将来を担う若者たちとともに、どのような社会を構築するのか考え、進めていく必要性を感じました。

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the reception hosted by the America-Japan Society for former Prime Minister Abe and U.S. Ambassador to Japan Emanuel.

I learned a lot about the importance of the next three years for the Japan-U.S. relationship, that Japan's behavior will have a great impact on international affairs including the Indo-Pacific region, and that cost and efficiency have been important in the past, but that stability and sustainability will become more important in the future.

The photo was taken with college students who are interns at the America-Japan Society. I felt the need to think about and promote the kind of society we should build together with young people who will be responsible for the future of US-Japan relations.
